What exactly is a sports prediction market?
Every market is a yes/no question about a game — "Will the Lakers win?". You buy YES or NO shares that settle at $1 if you're right and $0 if you're wrong. The live price, in cents, is the crowd's implied probability. It's trading an outcome, not placing a bet against a house.
How is this different from a normal sportsbook?
A sportsbook sets the odds, takes the opposite side of your bet, and bakes in a margin (the vig). hoo.fun is a peer-to-peer market: you trade against other people, price is set by supply and demand, and there's no house edge — just a flat 0.4% fee on realized volume.
Why build it on Solana?
Live odds need to move fast and settle cheaply. Solana gives us ~400ms finality and sub-cent fees, so the book can reprice in real time during a game and pay winners the instant a result is final — none of which is practical on slower, pricier chains.
Who decides the final result?
A decentralized sports oracle posts the outcome once the game ends, followed by a short dispute window that guards against bad data. Resolution is code and consensus — not a support agent who can freeze your payout.
